THE MORRIS - LOCKEBERG WINTERLUDE SKI JUMP
Organized by the Ottawa Ski Club at the
THE FRED MORRIS MEMORIAL SKI JUMPS
Camp Fortune, Old Chelsea, Quebec, Canada
January 26. 2002

The Ottawa Ski Club has a long tradition of ski jumping and has produced many fine athletes, of whom the best known is Horst Bulau. In recent years the OSC jumping program has lost energy and its jump complex at Camp Fortune has fallen into disrepair. However, the program has just been rejuvenated and the Club is committed to building a completely new set of jumps, including modern 25, 45, and 70 meter hills. The new jump complex is named after long time jumper, FIS judge, Canadian Ski official and generous and tireless worker for the sport, Fred Morris.

The 45 meter hill is partly complete, the 70 is still in the future, but the 25 has recently been opened. The inaugural flight off the new hill was performed by newly slimmed-down ex-olympian Kim Fripp. To present the new jump to the public, the Club organized a small competition and invited nearby small-hill jumpers and nordic combined skiers to participate. A vanload of young jumpers from Lake Placid responded and everybody enjoyed a warm sunny day of jumping, hotdogs and hijinx, including a round of after-jumps by skiers stripped down to their boxers!

We welcome the Ottawa Ski Club back to the jumping community and wish them the best in their rebuilding process. Here are the results of the competition.

(bad communication) so only Gus Ramonat, Stefan Ramonat and Don West
