Eastern Junior National Qualifying Rules

What are Junior Nationals?

Junior Nationalís used to be called Junior Olympics which is an end of the year national competition. The Nationalís are hosted each year by a different division throughout the country. The best juniors from around the country meet for a week to test their skills against one another in both individual and team Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined events.

There are only two classes for these competitions:

Junior 2 Class: age 14-16

Junior 1 Class: age 17-19

There is always one individual ski jumping competition, one individual nordic combined competition, one team ski jumping competition, one team nordic combined competition, and then a fun competition like a target jump or long standing jump.

Junior Nationalís are held on hill sizes ranging in the K60-K70.

TRAVEL CONTRACT FOR EASTERN SKI JUMPING
AND NORDIC COMBINED ATHLETES

Experience has shown that setting clear expectations regarding personal conduct on training and competition trips saves painful difficulties later. Athletes and parents donít always understand the degree to which misconduct on the part of an athlete can disrupt coaching and training for all concerned and turn an exciting opportunity into a negative event.

Section 2, item 1 of the USSA Code of Conduct (Appendix B in the 2004 USSA Comp Guide) states: USSA members shall maintain high standards of moral and ethical conduct, which includes self-control and responsible behavior, consideration for the physical well being of others, and courtesy and good manners.
Specifically, swearing and excessive displays of frustration are unacceptable on Eastern trips and may lead to removal from specific practices and/or competitions for a period of one or two such sessions. A cluster of such behaviors will lead to the athlete being sent home early.

Section 2, item 2 of the USSA Code of Conduct deals with illegal drugs and alcohol.
Specifically, using alcohol or drugs on an Eastern trip will lead to involved ESJ&NC athletes immediately returning home with the athletesí families incurring any additional expense.

Any unacceptable behavior deemed unbecoming of an Eastern Competitor may lead to immediate dismissal.

The signing of this contract indicates the athleteís willingness to abide by the USSA Code of Conduct and to follow the dictates of team leaders and coaches.

Athleteís Signature ______________________________

A parentís signature indicates their support of the spirit and particulars of the contract and their willingness to pay additional expenses for an athlete to be sent home early for irresponsible behavior as outlined above.
